Gheorghe Zamfir is a Romanian artist, musician, and virtuoso of the pan flute, nicknamed the “King of the Pan Flute.”

Finding his unique means of expression through this millennia-old instrument, he has succeeded in winning the admiration and applause of audiences all over the world.

He was the first Romanian artist to perform at a private Mass held by Pope John Paul II in 1988.

Gheorghe Zamfir is the author of over 300 works in folkloric, chamber, choral, vocal, instrumental, and symphonic styles. He has sold more than 120 million records worldwide and has released over 200 recorded albums—an unmatched record among Romanian artists to this day.

He has received more than 100 gold and platinum discs, along with countless international awards and honors. He is the only Romanian artist to have won two gold discs in the United States, one gold disc in Hungary, and 15 gold discs in a single day in Canada.
